The Objective
DiscoverE works to expand access to engineering education by connecting students, educators, and families with STEM opportunities. The organization prioritized optimization of their website for SEO, and provide parents and educators a platform for finding engineering opportunities. The platform challenge was providing a database at scale without manual entries from event hosts, since most organizations promote events on their own platforms. This results in fragmented information and incomplete directories. Manual submissions produced limited coverage and required ongoing maintenance. DiscoverE sought a platform that could identify relevant STEM events automatically and present them through a centralized search experience.
How Creative2 supported
Creative2 designed DiscoverE’s website with optimized SEO and developed Engineering Navigator, a custom web application that uses artificial intelligence to discover STEM events across the web. The platform searches for event listings, evaluates each result for relevance, extracts structured event information, and stores approved opportunities in a searchable database. Users can filter results by location, grade level, engineering discipline, and date. The application was also designed to support multiple AI providers, allowing DiscoverE to adapt as funding sources and model availability change.

The Story of Engineering Navigator
Engineering Navigator replaces a manual event collection process with an automated discovery pipeline. The application begins with curated search queries that identify potential STEM events published by schools, nonprofits, museums, universities, and community organizations. AI evaluates each source to determine whether the content is appropriate for student audiences before extracting event details from individual pages or calendar systems.
Development focused heavily on improving classification accuracy. Early versions surfaced unrelated content that met broad search criteria but did not align with DiscoverE's mission. Prompt refinement and validation logic were expanded to improve precision while limiting processing costs for a nonprofit organization operating on grant funding. The platform architecture remains independent of any single AI model. This allows DiscoverE to change providers without redesigning the application and to take advantage of grant programs that provide platform-specific AI credits.

The Results
Engineering Navigator provides DiscoverE with a scalable method for identifying STEM opportunities that would otherwise remain distributed across thousands of websites. The application reduces the need for manual event collection while expanding the volume of activities available to educators and families. The platform is currently operating in a limited regional rollout in North Carolina and greater Philadelphia area (beta) as event coverage and AI accuracy continue to be refined before broader deployment.
